DAVID STARR
With Arkansas roots and Colorado wings, David Starr has been making music since the age of 10. He is an Americana singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer with hundreds of live shows and five solo CD’s   under his belt.

His latest CD, Love And Sabotage, is a 15-song collection that features original compositions, co-writer collaborations and two covers.  The new release also showcases Starr’s many influences ranging from Southern California country rock to Delta blues to folk.  The songs were recorded in several studios with the help of session veterans from Nashville, Denver and Aspen.

Starr has shared the stage with such artists as John Oates (Hall & Oates), Richie Furay (Buffalo Springfield, Poco), Kenny Edwards (Linda Ronstadt, Karla Bonoff), John McEuen (Nitty Gritty Dirt Band) and numerous others. He has opened for Survivor, Clint Black, Travis Tritt, Restless Heart and The Guess Who. He also has an upcoming 2016 date as opening act for the Marshall Tucker Band.

Sorry, I'm not commenting on David Starr, or Space Kitten (sorry I missed that!), but on OPEN MIKE (April 7):

MARTIN SELBY is so very good! He announced that he had just begun to accommodate slide guitar, and his RJohnson: CrossRoads was spot on. Really -- convincing guitar and vocals to boot.

TREVOR HALL -- with another hand-made guitar? quite a versatile artist. He plays quite well and sings with intensity and conviction.

JOYA (might get last name, if any, one of these daze): alone on the stage with her guitar -- she quite capably "carries" each song and takes the listener along for the ride, or trip down the river, whatever. I suspect we'll say "we knew her when" one of these days.

Many people thought RON did quite good with the sound ~

Open Mike, April 14:

AMANDA is always a "Joy" (that's her middle name) to listen to. The Cavalcade is frequented by more than just a few good vocalists -- each with unique characteristics. Just as Erika B expresses angst and yearning (and more), Amanda conveys a genuine-sincere-bright-wholesomeness (in spite of the lyrics about being "a filthy sinner" and at her worst she's "mis-understood"). This cheapskate amateur reviewer would gladly PAY to hear her in a club ...

TIM & (I think) CHRISTY did dueling fiddles, culminating with Bach's Concerto for Two Violins (in D-minor, no less). Quite a singularly unique experience.

TREVOR (Hall) played two originals -- "guess which one was sad and which was upbeat & happy" -- then ending with what I felt was "a notch above" -- (can't and don't remember the song title). I would hire him to be lead guitarist for my band ~

We felt that RON was good on sound. & thanks to THAD & JARED for being the hosts.
